A Message from the President
Jérôme Ortscheidt
For more than 70 years, the French Arbitration Committee has helped promote the French approach to international arbitration both in France and abroad. This approach is based on the idea that arbitration is the standard method for resolving international commercial disputes, as evidenced by the unwavering trust that French lawmakers and courts have placed in it for many years.
Since 1955, the Committee has published *Revue de l’arbitrage*, the leading French-language publication on arbitration. The French Arbitration Committee is also regularly consulted by government authorities on matters related to arbitration, as was the case during the 2011 reform, which it initiated. It also maintains close ties with the Paris Bar Association, which it advises on issues specific to arbitration.
As a purely academic society, it brings together lawyers, judges, academics, legal professionals, and businesses that utilize arbitration, all of whom contribute to its work in a fully independent capacity. The French Arbitration Committee organizes quarterly conferences, arbitration practice workshops, and an annual symposium. These various events provide our members with an opportunity to discuss current issues and foster discussion on desirable advances in the field of arbitration.
The French Arbitration Committee is also committed to fostering connections among arbitration specialists from diverse backgrounds and generations, particularly through its close ties with sister academic societies in various countries and with the CFA40, with which we organize a cross-examination competition for young practitioners.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our website.
