The Working Group’s objective is to bring together legal scholars, economists, and financial experts to establish a framework for defining the terms in which issues of damage assessment arise and for understanding the various methods used to assess damages. This research includes the development of a practical guide designed to help arbitrators and legal counsel identify the questions to ask experts and understand how to use expert reports.
The Group also plans to organize, at a later stage, a theoretical and practical seminar on the subject.
The head of the Working Group is Carole Malinvaud (partner at the law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris, member of the Paris and New York Bars).
The Group’s secretary is Lucas Montel (a doctoral student at the University of Paris II, where he is writing a dissertation in international law under the supervision of Charles Jarrosson on “compensation for damages in international arbitration, as illustrated by the example of investment arbitration”).
