French Law, Spanish Law: A Comparative Perspective


CONFERENCE Friday, February 16, 2018 (4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

Two roundtable discussions will be held on the following topics:

– “Comparative Perspectives on the Recognition, Enforcement (Exequatur), and Setting Aside of International Arbitral Awards and Public Policy.” For this first panel discussion, Jérôme Barbet (Partner, ENJEA Avocats) and Silvia Martinez (Senior Associate, Hogan Lovells) will discuss the specific features of French and Spanish law, and Esperanza Barron (Associate, Latham & Watkins) will moderate the panel.

– “Recent Developments in the Enforcement of Awards Against States and Sovereign Immunities.” For this second roundtable, Andrea Pinna (partner, De Gaulle Fleurance), Jacques-Alexandre Genet (partner, Archipel), and Fernando Bedoya (partner, Perez-Llorca) will discuss the specificities of Spanish and French law (and, for France, the specific aspects pertaining to the defense of creditors or States).

The conference will be followed by a cocktail reception hosted by Latham & Watkins.
