Yves Derains is a founding partner of the law firm Derains & Gharavi. A French national, he has more than 35 years of experience in arbitration and has served as counsel or arbitrator in more than 200 commercial or investment arbitration proceedings governed by various arbitration rules. He has consistently dedicated himself to the advancement of international arbitration and is both recognized and respected in the arbitration community. Fluent in five languages, he is a member of various panels of arbitrators around the world, including the ICSID. He is also the author of numerous publications on arbitration and, in particular, co-author of an authoritative work on the application and interpretation of the ICC Rules of Arbitration (A Guide to the ICC Rules of Arbitration, 2nd Edition, with Eric Schwartz, Kluwer Law International, 2005).
President of the ICC Institute of International Business Law, former Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, and former President of the French Arbitration Committee, he is also President of the Arbitration Court of the Jerusalem Arbitration Center (JAC), established by the Israeli and Palestinian National Committees of the ICC.
